Removal Checklist: A checklist to help you plan your move

2 Months Before the Move

Inform the following as to the dates of your departure and the forwading address for all outstanding bills:

1 Months Before the Move

Back up your personal computer
Arrange for a pre-move survey
Decide on the items to be shipped for air and for sea
Disposal of excess or redundant items
Give away/sell plants or used furniture/appliances
Prepare insurance valuation list
Sell car
Visit your dentist to botain dental records
Visit your doctor to obtain medical records
Verify all documentation required for the country of destination:

At the Survey

Discuss customs formalities with your moving consultant i.e: documents and procedures
If you are planning to move electrical appliances, inquire about the voltage at the destination
Pet handling
Point out the high value items for special handling
Show the moving consultant the items going by sea/air
Storage requirements
Transit insurance

2 Weeks Before the Move

Clean your refrigerator thoroughly with a strong detergent, this will reduce the chaces of mold and mildew forming during shipping

During The Move

Orientate the packers to the shipment, point out the items that are most valuable to you
Be present during packing to answer any questions that packers may have
Sign and retain a copy of the inventory
Request vessel information and destination agent contact information
Hand carry high valued items such as jewelry, stamps etc
Put air tickets, passports, receipts and other important documents in a safe place to avoid these items being packed with your shipment
After packing, check all rooms, closets and patio etc with the supervisor to make sure that all items have been packed, loaded into container

Delivery Checklist

Arrival at destination:

Contact Afast Movers Services to notify us of your arrival and confirm on your date for delivery, address fo delivery ad contyact numbers
Make sure you complete and submit import Customs forms and other important documents for clearance of shipment (e.g: photcopies of passport and letter from employer)

Give special instructions to engage specialist for assembling grand piano, waterbed or pool table.
Prior to Shipment Delivery:
Make arrangements for cleaning or renovation (if required) to be completed 2 days before day of delivery
Give some thought to the actual palcement of furnitures or heavy items
Label rooms for easy placement of individual boxes and furniture (e.g: John’s room, baby’s, living room etc)
On the Day When Shipment Arives:
Inventory list – tick against the number of items delivered to ensure all items are received and direct them to the respective rooms
Upon complete count of all items, let the movers unpack your cartons and remove the debris at the end of the day. Generally, it is best to unpack in 1 or 2 rooms at a time, using 4 to 5 movers.
Let the supervisor know if you want to unpack certain boxes on your own
Look for any visible signs of damage and note them on the delivery order.
If there are any missing items or damage, list these items on the inventory list. File a claim as soon as possible and notify your moving consultant
